Thanks for all the replies. I too have seen many pictures now showing a Spartan au horn on series 80. I have fortunately found one on eBay with the correct mounting bracket. I think what confused me was that my series 81 does not have a Spartan au horn. So that one is probably not correct either.

Well I got it apart by default. After fiddling with the handle and lock, I was able to push the cylinder out. The retaining clip moved enough to allow it to slip out. Now may task is to fabricate the stem and related parts as they are missing. Thanks to all who replied.

Thanks. That does look different than my door lock. I do not have a hole like that. there may have been one but there is no evidence of a hole.

There must be a way to remove it. may have to take it to a locksmith.

I think my wife would like to try to make one. What are the dimensions of the robes?

That is interesting Bob. Does that mean the oil lines etc. were not plated? Were they just copper?

The K&N filter number is RC-9340. They can be purchased at any automotive place, Amazon or from K & N directly. The flange is offset 1.5 inches so that you can rotate the filter for maximum clearance. It weighs less than 11 oz. So there is no fear of breaking the air horn.

    Hope this works for you.

Attached is the picture of a K&K air filter on my ’29. I slipped a SS tube in the air horn and attached the filter to the tube. It just fits with out touching anything.

I don’t remember the number of the filter, but I could look it up if you would like me to

It is now available. At Hershey I placed an order with Eric. I received it about a week after Hershey. So go for it.

I got mine from Chassis Engineering, Inc. They fit my car but I did not have to use the metal cup washers supplied.

in reply to: Pilot Bearings #407790

Yes Randy, you can easily check the bearing with your finger by seeing how easily it spins. But as a matter of general good procedure while things are apart I would replace the bearing.

You never know how long it has been in there or how hard the grease is.

They can be purchased at your local auto parts store or on line.

I would think that he would be taking orders. He did not say that he would have material there to sale but he did say that he needed to get producing the top material to start recouping his investment in the pattern equipment. I think for sure he will have samples.

I have just recast these latches in silicon bronze. I have not gotten around to placing pictures and an add in the emporium but I need to do that soon.

I will be selling for $140 each including shipping. These are unplated.

I have on my lever shocks on my 863-A. It may or may not be the same but I suspect they are the same (Delco Lovejoy)). The original is a leather seal. I purchased several replacement seals on eBay or they can be bought at your auto supplier. I don’t have the number right now but I think I have an extra seal on hand. Getting the lever off is a real chore. I made several tools to accomplish rebuilding my shocks. pressing the lever off took 20 tons plus heat.

Bill I could replace the seal for you I you like.

    just let me know.

I too have used “Grain-It” technologies. From their business one can purchase all of the supplies for the do-it-yourself-er. I got the supplies and did the wood grain transfer myself on my ’36 ford. They have many types of wood grains to chose from. After painting a base color, the grain pattern is picked up on a silicon roller from the pattern plate you chose. It is then transferred to the part to be grained. It is very forgiving. If you don’t like how it turns out you can wipe the pattern off and try it again. The pattern is slow drying. Check out their web site. I plan to do my own on my 836-A when the time comes. They also are at Hersey and give demonstrations and are good to talk to.

    Hey Kenneth. Good deal.

What are some of the particulars of the car?

Be sure to post pictures of the car when you get it home.

Looking forward to seeing it at the gathering.

Well to be safe I didn’t drive it any faster than it would go.

Greg, I looked up a leather aviators cap with goggles. My wife nixed the $46 cost. Oh well.
