I will be back in Saratoga Springs in the middle of May. Please remind then of what bulbs you need, I have a number of them there
David, where are you located?
I think the interior is very distinctive. My biggest fear, is at this type of auction, this car goes real cheap, and drives down our values even more. If I had a garage space, I think I would be interested . The fact that Pat Craig did the restoration and did not retain the car confuses me.
I had used them for years. Nice work, slow delivery
I had Lester tires installed new on my ’36 probably 25 years ago. They could NEVER be balanced properly. After installing BF Goodrich 750’s 15 years ago, I discovered they needed NO balancing at all. Others have had this problem. I felt bad at the time, Tom Lester was a brilliant collector and a good friend of mine. Moreover, the rigidity of the tires seemed to be flimsier than other makes I have used.
David, check with some old timer from the CCCA. Somebody was making those twenty or so years ago, I bought one and never used it, probably sold it at Hershey. Someone should remember who made them, or advertise CCCA bulletin to see if any are left kicking around
Forgive me for pretending to know anything about things like this. However, I am aware that Eric Rosenau when he was alive, and perhaps Billy Sandvik now, along with John Ciselak use a production rod (Oldsmobile straight 8 I thought, whatever), on the 8 cylinder Pierce Cars. My 1931 had inserts installed in the 60’s. When I had the caps pulled in the 80’s, they were perfectly at spec. Ask Billy and John C. their opinion on this subject.
As told to me, the bodies were framed with first growth ash
The Cadillac-LaSalle website is much easier for me to use, all elements of each category are visible. Use is very high, moreover non members are allowed to use pretty much all elements of the site (I don’t agree with this). Go to this site, share your opinion. Peter was the webmaster there at one time, also.
Our recent reminder regarding the fundraiser for the 2023 meet has caused a flurry of activity with the jacket sales. Ordering now could provide for delivery before Christmas. These are nice jackets, and the Pierce Arrow embroideries are of a nice quality. We have a good selection of sizes available.
Paul, that’s great! You sure beat my record of owning my ’36 for almost 55 years. It would be fun to hear how long some other people have owned their cars!
A generous donor has come forward. We will announce the donor at such time he/she gives us permission to do so.
I immediately recalled this was the type of hitch on our “go to the dump” trailer when I was a boy
The car is in England, or on the continent. Probably ten years ago, I met this man at a show that owned a large collector car store in Fort Lauderdale (I think he was German). He somehow had acquired Irv’s car, and sold it overseas. He still had the crankshaft from the original engine (Irv’s car had a smaller displacement engine installed from when Irv had it). He offered to give me the crank, I stupidly never went down to pick it up.
Thanks Rich. Swore I had kept it
Years ago, I had a $25,000 lesson in re: babbitted bearings. I question how many people in this country (or anywhere) know how to make and/or pour babbit. Eric Rosenau started replacing babbited bearings years ago with insert bearings, and John Ciselak (for one) does it expertly now
I have misplaced the contact number. His last name is Otto. I will look for it, sorry
I decided to bring one of the last reproduction late Pierce Archers that Irv Blonder had made. They are brass, and not subject to the deterioration of pot metal. It has never been on a car, and is perfect, with an authentic bow and arrow.
Yesterday I found a purolator filter, with the modern filter conversion paraphanalia. I am bringing that to Hershey also, these original filter cores have been extremely hard to find lately.
