fellows, when I removed the steering wheel from the ‘31; it had a slight looseness on the shaft. Now, with the column painted and reinstalling the wheel, if I tighten the nut any at all the hub of the wheel drags on the end of the outer column. It looks like the end of the steering shaft is tapered, and I wonder if the cast (pot metal?) hub is worn in the taper. I am considering fitting a shim around the end of the shaft, leaving room for the Woodruff key, to see if I can tighten things up a little. Comments?
