Our 1936 1601 sounds the horn going around corners, there’s most likely a frayed wire causing a short somewhere inside the steering column and we’d like to replace the old wire with new.

Two questions:  1.) What is the preferred method to remove the horn button, and 2.) Is there anything special we should consider when replacing the wire inside the steering column?

My guess is 1936-37-38 horn buttons are the same / similar.

Thank you in advance, Stu Blair

The bezel that the scripted horn button lives within, unscrews from the steering wheel.  They were difficult to unscrew when they had been freshly installed, hence the chipping and scratching evident on so many of them.  Perhaps Billy Sandvik, or Bob Sands has a suggestion for easy removal.  Mine hasn’t moved since 1984, and I have a feeling that it would be a problem.
