Does anyone have the part number for the felt seal for the front wheel grease seal? No modern seal apparently fits without machining out the hub, and vintageautopartsusa on eBay has a wide selection of felt seals but needs a part number. This is the large spindle.

    Thanks

On my 1703, I machined out the original felt seal carrier for a type 47 nitrile lip seal. The carrier ID was 3.178″ and the lip seal needs a 3.1875-3.1905 ID. I got the seal from NAPA, but do not have the part number in my files.

I found my seal number: National Federal Mogul 4724095S.

    Bob:

Thank you very much! I was just hoping not to have to machine the hub if I didn’t have to.

Will pull mine in a couple of weeks to see how far it would have to be reamed – there is a local shop with a large lathe that I’m sure could do it for me.
